Danh sách các đề cử hạng mục cho lễ trao giải Oscar 2018 đã được công bố vào sáng ngày 23/1 (giờ địa phương) tại nhà hát Samuel Goldwyn, Beverly Hills, California, Mỹ. Giám đốc Viện Hàn lâm - ông John Bailey cùng với Tiffany Haddish và Andy Serkis đã cùng nhau đọc tên những bộ phim và diễn viên xuất sắc được đề cử trong 24 hạng mục.

Bộ phim Người đẹp và thủy quái - The Shape of Water được gắn nhãn R (cấm trẻ em dưới 17 tuổi) lại tiếp tục gây bất ngờ khi được đề cử đến 13/24 hạng mục. Trước đó, bộ phim đã thành công giành giải thưởng ở lễ trao giải lớn khác như Quả cầu vàng. Đây cũng là bộ phim dẫn đầu với số lượng đề cử cao nhất trong số các phim tham gia Oscar năm nay.
The Shape of Water là bộ phim về tình yêu của một cô gái câm và một tên thủy quái. Đạo diễn Guillermo del Toro bắt tay cùng biên kịch Vanessa Tylor để chấp bút nên kịch bản của bộ phim này. The Shape of Water mang đến cho khán giả không chỉ sự rung động, trải nghiệm đầy cảm xúc mà còn mang đậm tính nhân văn.

Ngoài ra, phim về Thế chiến thứ 2 Dunkirk theo đuôi với 8 đề cử trong khi Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri lại nhận được đề cử ở 7 hạng mục khác. Jimmy Kimmels tiếp tục cầm trịch Oscar năm nay. Lễ trao giải sẽ được diễn ra trực tiếp trên đài ABC vào ngày 4/3/2018.
